Shawn Edwards Interviews Sylvia Hoeks, Ana de Armas, & Mackenzie Davis about their new film “Blade Runner 2049”.
Is a Dutch actress, during high school she was scouted by Elite models, and she started travelling as a model all around Europe for a couple of years. After finishing high school she attended the Maastricht Theatre Academy. Right after graduation she made her national breakthrough with the Jos Stelling film Duska (2007). She won a Golden Calf (the Dutch equivalent of the Oscars) at the annual Netherlands Film Festival. In 2011, Sylvia was presented at the Berlinale as Shooting Star, a unique Pan European initiative which puts a spotlight on Europe’s best actors. Her international breakthrough in 2013 was after working with the Oscar-winning director Giuseppe Tornatore in his film The Best Offer starring opposite Geoffrey Rush.
Ana de Armas:
De Armas made her acting debut in 2006, portraying the role of Marie on Una rosa de Francia, starring with Alex Gonzalez. At the age of 18, she moved to Spain. Her first major television success there was the Spanish TV series El Internado, in which she starred as Carolina Leal, airing on Antena 3 in 2007. She later continued her career in the film Mentiras y gordas (2009), the TV series Hispania, la leyenda (2010–2012), and Blind Alley (2011).
Davis was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. She attended McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. She went on to study acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City, and was soon discovered by Drake Doremus for her acting debut in the feature film Breathe In. In 2015, she appeared in The Martian as a NASA satellite communications engineer named Mindy Park. In June 2016, Davis was cast in an undisclosed role in the Blade Runner sequel.
